Mystic

A mystic is a person who believes that direct knowledge of spiritual truth, or ultimate reality can only be attained through one’s direct experience of the same.

Metaphysics

Metaphysics is a traditional branch of philosophy concerned with explaining the fundamental nature of existence. A person who studies metaphysics is called a metaphysicist  or a metaphysician. The metaphysicist attempts to clarify the fundamental way in which people understand existence. A central branch of metaphysics is ontology—the investigation into the basic nature of being. The word "metaphysics" derives from the Greek words μετά (meta—"beyond", "above" or "overarching") and φυσικά (physiká, "physics"). It is understood to mean "what is beyond the physical".
