The preceding posts are prelude to my addressing an issue that I was sure would be brought up by followers of this blog–the legitimacy of using psychoactive substances within a spiritual context. I felt Dr. Huston Smith’s article–Do Drugs Have Religious Import?–to be particularly significant since he is one of the world’s preeminent scholars on comparative religion and I will be making frequent reference to it in my upcoming post on this subject. I realize that people have very divergent opinions on this topic and I invite you to a lively, but cordial, discussion.
